Jeff Bridges talks about his near-death experience after fighting cancer and COVID-19 in 2021.
Actor Jeff Bridges, 74, star of “Tron” and “The Big Lebowski”, shared his near-death experience while battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and COVID-19.
“I was very close to dying. The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you have to fight. You’re not fighting.’ I was in surrender mode”, he told People magazine.
Bridges also explained how his immune system was at this critical point in his life.
“I had no defenses. That’s what chemotherapy does — it strips you of your entire immune system. I had nothing to fight with. COVID made my cancer seem like nothing”, he reported.
The actor described it as a “learning experience”. “It’s amazing how the mind can forget all these things”, he said, relieved to have overcome the illness.
